A collection contains different degrees of importance, but a uniform grid turns it into a catalogue and a handmade collage becomes fragile across viewports.

Try this for projects, pieces, essays, or objects where one focal item and several supporting items should be discovered as a cluster.

  • Collections need enough order to scan.
  • Unequal scale communicates judgment and sequence.
  • Responsive rearrangement makes exact positions unreliable.

Build each wall around one focal item and a small supporting cluster. Use repeated spatial parameters rather than fixed coordinates, and split large collections into several walls so each one can maintain its own hierarchy.

Watch for

  • Too many items produce one giant tile and a residue of slivers.
