I had been running Listable on my website for 4 years. Its a great directory, visually very appealing. It, however, is very hard to really customize, unless you know how to code, because the frontend editing is rather limited, you can change color scheme, choose font and play with width of your container, but for anything else you need to hard code it in.
My biggest gripe is that the website is a little bit too pretty and expense of functionality. For example, the blog post aka latest news design scheme is too large, it takes too much space and with it blogging look it doesn’t really fit in the directory style website. But, again, you really can’t do anything to change it, unless you hard code it in. It would be great if they ever added at least a couple of layout schemes we can choose from.
Secondly, the so called “listing-cards” on the front page are in a desperate need of a slider since you can only show a fixed number of them on the front page and there is not even a ‘See More’ button underneath that would be really useful for engagement.
Thirdly, there should be more widgets optimized for the ‘post’ and ‘listing’ pages to keep in-site engagement high, particularly for the main body, since the sidebar ones are OK.
So to sum it up, after 4 years, I still enjoy the theme, but without coding knowledge or paying a dev, you will not be able to customize much. You can however, easily set up your site to look as the demo. I wish some of these features I propose, particularly the slider for ‘listing cards’ as well as couple of layout schemes for the post widget on the front page, because they would update the theme’s slightly static look that is becoming old fashioned.
I bought this product because the layout was clean, easily customisable and exactly what I was looking for. They thought of everything to help me with my purchasing decision – the demo, customer service etc. The demo has the customisation tools so that you can have a play around with it before buying. That was extremely important for me and I had a look at the demo a few times before purchasing. The customer service is the best I have had in a long time – George is so friendly and explains things in a way that I can understand. The guides that they have for the theme are brilliant too and so easy to follow. If you want a great theme with great support, I would highly recommend Pixelgrade.
We chose Listable for our directory of groups being disappointed with a previous theme by a different vendor. So we put in extra work and tried it out first. What lured us over was the beautiful design: it looked simple but elegant.
Initially, we were afraid that we would be compromising features for design, but have found Listable — along with additional add-ins — can do the job. We wanted to tweak a few things and have been able to do it without a lot of effort. And when we had questions, support was just great. That was very refreshing — and helpful, of course.
If I had a magical wand, I’d wish that the additional add-ons we purchased were included (or more affordable), as we have spent at least the same amount on add-ons as we have on the theme. (They did not always come from Pixelgrade, by the way.) And while we are dreaming, we would love to have a way to customize how the widgets look in a more WYSIWYG fashion, but can live without it. However, we love the design/look and feel so much that we feel it was worth it — even for the nonprofit client we are helping.
All in all, the design is great, the support is great (documentation and humans), and functionality is good. Would we do it again? Yes — and are already thinking whether we can use Listable for other projects…
1. Look, feel and ease of installation. Customer reviews and support.
2. The grey hero area was a pain to figure out for me and connecting the maps – it took me 3 weeks to figure it out eventually. The issue with the latitude and longitude fields that were created does not work for in the listings. I have to create new fields for each listing, then only did my listings appear on the maps. Another downside is purchasing all the additional plugins – this took me way over budget.
3. Beautiful design, love the demo import, great theme support within wordpress. Make sure you have extra budget to purchase all the add on plugins to get the full look as the demo.
1. The listing features being able to display visually
2. limited visual editor, it would be nice to see wpbaker visual editor built into the theme
3. Airbnb style theme
We chose your theme to develop a new version of a current website.
The only downside that we have come across so far is being able to assign posts to Listings but fortunately, your excellent Customer Support pointed me in the right direction for help.
I would describe your product as being very good with exceptional Customer Support.
1. Like the look at the themes, nice design and easy to work with
2. Nobody – Don´t understand the question
3. You have great stuff and very good support
Have a nice day and keep up your good work
Today I received support from Alin from Pixelgrade. The support of Alin and the Pixelgrade team really rocks! Thanks guys! I hope you guys will keep continuing what you do best; creating absolutely awesome themes!
I spent a lot of time looking for a Wordpress theme to use for a directory site. The Listable theme from Pixelgrade was the one I liked best and kept coming back to look at time and time again. It had all the features I was looking for, but most importantly it had a really lovely design too.
Having taken the plunge and bought it, I am so happy with it. The documentation is comprehensive and easy to use. It is, without doubt, the easiest theme to use, that I have bought in a long time.
Support has turned out to be phenomenal too. A feature stopped working for me (I think I had been meddling with some settings) and I just could not get it back. The support team looked in to it, worked out what I had done wrong and fixed it on the spot; then sent me an email with screenshots, so I could see exactly what I had done and what to avoid in the future.
